Tick Tock

Tick Tock
I hear the clock
Ticking the seconds away
So loud
So clear

Tick Tock
I see the hand
Wiping every minute away
So strong
So determined

Tick Tock
It is merely a clock
Time? I see not
Time? I feel not
It is there, though
Ticking
Slipping

Tick Tock
Silent killer
Time is
Lurking around fearlessly
Bleed not, hurt not
But I am dying
We are all dying
For Time is
Taking away softly
Every second
Every minute
Of our life

Tick Tock
Listen!
Do you hear it?
Do you see it?
It’s there!

~ Ashley

Inspired by Kesha and the silence in the office. I’m all alone and waiting for Andrew. Waiting is wasting, so they said. Therefore, making my brain works a ‘lil so that time doesn’t get wasted. :) Or perhaps it does get wasted, in a good way.

I was nominated last week for The Celebrate Poet of Spring in 2011 Award, March 1, 2011, and was one of the many runner-up’s who are great and creative poets. The nominated poem was My Shallow Mind. I now honor it and would like to nominate Silvertongue for this week.

    1. Thank you Rea (not sure if I got your name right) for “wasting” some time here. :) I see you have a very lovely blog there, very inspiring.

      1. It’s never a waste of time for Rea to connect to wonderful people! The posts may be great in each of the blog sites but nothing beats the heart of the blogger! What do you think? Nice meeting you!
        :)

      2. Yes, it’s always the heart of the blogger, I couldn’t agree with you more! It feels great, to find someone over the world wide web that shares the same thinking.

  1. kinda reminded me of the poems that was told to me by my mom when i was young.

    1. Hi Julian, thanks. You still remember the whole of the poem your mom told u? Your mom is amazing. Would really love to see/read it. :)

  2. I like your writing here, Ashley. So true–time is marching on whether we want to acknowledge it or not–slowly “killing” us. Great perspective!

    1. The only chance to win it is to beat it, and the only way to beat it is when we die, where time doesn’t matter anymore. LOL :D

  3. Congrats on the award. Bravo!
The time poem is lovely, so well described silence and time not passing by … Good luck with your writing and thanks for visiting me!

  4. It’s tough to be ruled by Time, isn’t it? I visited Hawaii once and learned about the concept of “Island Time” – where the rules are not so strict. :) I like the way you kept repeating “Tick Tock”…reminding us that each second passes (kind of like how the clock’s ticking reminds us, too!).

  5. I think about time a lot; how I’m using it, what time does to our bodies (Ewww!) and about death. From the moment we’re born time begins to take its toll on us. I think the difference is how we go about dealing with it. We can lie down and wait for time to take us; we can live our lives to the fullest enjoying everything that times allows to enjoy or you can enjoy the heck out of everything, but go down kicking! I prefer the third option. Yes, time is definitely tick tocking my life away, as my body can attest to, but I refuse to lay down and wait for it to take me. I want to enjoy every minute, not just strolling through life, but fighting the ravages of time on my body. Exercise, laugh loudly, dye your hair, do whatever it takes. When time has finally ticked its last tock for my life, I want to go out with a victorious smile and looking good.
Really did enjoy reading this. Great job. May your day be blessed!
